For photographer Abby Grove, the story behind one image involves a detour, a lot of extra effort, and no regrets at all. It was made on a climb up The Three Chiefs in Squamish, Canada.

"The 9th photo was taken while hiking The Three Chiefs in Squamish, Canada," she says. "We hiked up to the first peak twice because we got turned around on the trail. End up scrambling up chains and adding over a mile to our hike. Oops!"

“We got turned around on the trail... adding over a mile to our hike. But absolutely worth it for the photos and friendship!”

The mishap, it turns out, was the whole point. "But absolutely worth it for the photos and friendship!" she says. It is a reminder that the best pictures are often bound up with the people you make them with.
